You might well have wanted to do both. but you've sublimated and repressed the urges. So you'll never know. That's the beauty of the thing.

What about lightning?

That only zig-zags left and right, you never see it zig-zag back and forth, so that must prove the earth is flat.

Much of that knowledge gap is created by foreign-educated, er, foreigners.

'Lysenko and Lamarck weren't 100% wrong in the way Freud wasn't 100% wrong'

So I didn't want to kill my dad and fuck my mum?

I was pretty sure I didn't but it's nice to have it confirmed by the WHO science community.

Thanks for the correction.

99%+ wrong isn't very fucking wrong, though?

Lysenko and Lamarck weren't 100% wrong in the way Freud wasn't 100% wrong. They were still very fucking wrong. Giving them any credit for epigenetics is like giving Freud credit for cognitive sciences.

Lysenko was wronger because not only was he wrong he made his wrongness into an unimpeachable ideology, that spread to all sciences, that fucked Soviet science and contributed to the USSR becoming unsustainable. If a real creationist got his hands on the USA (The Donald is clearly an atheist) I could see her or him doing the same, with the same results. All America has going for it is it's knowledge gap with the rest of the world. They lose that they are fucked.

I'm really pleased to see that Flat Earthers can STILL push people's buttons in such a big way. They were born to tease a world of social media idiots (although not using any sort of satellite network, obviously).

Is it bollocks. It's to keep ahead of those damned Rooskies and Chinkies.

Surface - it's been well documented that the science of space exploration was an afterthought, but it has since become the primary consideration. For Europe and the US at least. India and China might be a different story.

But it's a good example of one industry propagating another.

Cholo

I'm not sure about NASA either, but there was and ', etc' after NASA.

However, I would be extremely surprised if NASA didn't at any point claim some purely scientific motive for the moon landings programme, when it was in fact just one battle in the cold war space race.

Agreed.

I was, however, in addition to being glib and facetious, trying to make a light-hearted but semi-serious point about authority reaping what it sows. Or something.

What did you people DO with your lives before Trump was elected? You were probably halfway sensible before. Just listen to yourselves, ffs. Social media was the worst thing that ever happened to many of you. Fucjing hysterical and boring now.

cholo - I'm not saying they have lied about anything, but there are plenty of people who think they have - just take a look on youtube. The point I am making is that these are the same kind of people who will believe in a flat earth and in many cases they are also the same people who will believe in Trump because he is not a government insider and he "tells it like it is".
